Creating a safe and pleasant environment for pedestrians is another important element to shift Jakartans from excessive use of private vehicles. In order to achieve this environment, the supporting facilities have to be sufficient and convenient - starting from the sidewalks, safe street crossings, and effortless connectivity to public transportations and other public sites.

For the past three years, Jakarta has done significant changes in pedestrian facilities in various locations within the city. These improvements have focused on the Transit-Oriented Development locations to support the high mobility in this area. For the upcoming years, Jakarta will continue this effort so all areas can be pedestrian-friendly.
