Traffic congestion creates serious consequences, such as air pollution, decreasing productivity, and also psychological impacts. To overcome traffic, DKI Jakarta is developing mass transportation to encourage inhabitants to shift their urban lifestyle from private vehicles to public transportation usage. Mass transportation modes that are currently being developed are MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) and LRT (Light Rail Transit). Both MRT & LRT have brought innovation and carbon-neutral solutions that move people from one place to another in a swift time.

MRT Phase 1 (Lebak Bulus-Bundaran HI) was officially opened for the public on March 24, 2019, and in July 2019, it was reported that the average number of MRT Jakarta users reached 94,824 people per day. At the moment, MRT Phase 2 (Bundaran HI-Kota) is being constructed.

Meanwhile, LRT Phase 1 (Velodrome-Pegangsaan Dua) has been operated since the end of 2019. LRT Phase 2 (Pegangsaan Dua - Jakarta International Stadium) is currently being constructed as well.
