The Institution for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) is a global organization at the forefront of innovation, using technical expertise, direct advocacy, and policy guidance to mitigate the impacts of climate change, improve air quality, and support prosperous, sustainable, and equitable cities.
ITDP has been working in Jakarta since 2002, providing technical and advocacy assistance for the city’s TransJakarta BRT, which became Asia’s first high-quality BRT system when it opened in 2004. ITDP currently continues to promote and advocate for greater enforcement of TransJakarta’s busway and expansions.
Beyond BRT, ITDP Indonesia works on all aspects of sustainable transport throughout the city such as sustainable urban development projects in Jakarta’s urban villages, transition to electronic vehicles for public transportation and ride-hailing apps, implementation of protected bike lanes in Jakarta, pedestrian facilities standardization and development, and the opening of new bike-share systems in Jakarta.
