ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability is a global network of more than 2,500 local and regional governments committed to sustainable urban development, ICLEI influences sustainability policy and drives local action for low emission, nature-based, equitable, resilient and circular development.
DKI Jakarta was selected as the model city for ICLEI’s Ambitious City Promises, a collaboration program that aims to extend technical assistance to key metropolitan areas in Southeast Asia to formulate their respective city promises. Together, DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and ICLEI, have produced ‘Ikhtiar Jakarta’, a document showcasing the low emission development strategies pledged by different local stakeholders of Jakarta. This document forms an integral part of the priority policies of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in implementing the climate mitigation and adaptation agenda.
ICLEI also has worked on community-based waste management using Black Soldier Fly (BSF), energy ambassador training for students, climate diplomacy through religious leaders and the Climate Kampong Program (Proklim).
